Florida Atlantic University alumni include U.S. and foreign dignitaries, Emmy Award and Pulitzer Prize winners, an astronaut and executives who have founded and worked at Research Park at FAU companies, and served in organizations such as Google, Franklin Templeton, Boeing, eBay, Motorola and the White House. Approximately 65% of FAU’s nearly 131,000 alumni live in the Florida counties of Broward, Palm Beach, Miami-Dade and St. Lucie.
The FAU Career Center offers a number of resources and opportunities for employers to recruit our top FAU Talent. Its goal is to partner with employers and assist in maximizing the organization’s recruiting efforts at FAU in order to yield a higher rate of FAU hires within your organization. At the same time it serves students by providing a variety of career development programs and networking opportunities through the wide array of career programs and events.
Internship Grant
To help ensure that Florida Atlantic is where tomorrow begins, the Research Park at FAU encourages its companies to #HireFAU.
A grant award of $1,000 will be made to each Research Park at FAU And Global Ventures at Florida Atlantic™ employer for each internship completed by an FAU student in 2024.
Eligibility

- Must be a company in good standing with the Research Park at FAU or Global Ventures
- Contact the FAU Career Center to ensure the internship meets the requirements to be defined as an internship*.
- Post the internship opportunity in Handshake**; here is a tutorial on how to post a job
- In order to provide a meaningful learning experience for the student, the internship should be a minimum of 60 hours per semester (refer to Florida Atlantic's Academic Calendar for specific dates
- Consent to the FAU Internship Program Agreement to move forward with the approval process. Once you're ready to hire, simply email info@research-park.org saying, “I consent to the terms of the FAU Internship Program Agreement.”
- At the successful conclusion of the internship, submit an application to the Research Park FAU.

*Criteria for an experience to be defined as an internship:
To ensure that an experience—whether it is a traditional internship, or one conducted remotely or virtually—is educational, and thus eligible to be considered a legitimate internship by the National Association of Colleges& Employers definition, all the following criteria must be met:

- The experience must be an extension of the classroom and apply the knowledge gained through academic coursework. It must not be simply to advance the operations of the employer or replace the work of a regular employee.
- The skills or knowledge learned must be transferable to other employment settings.
- The experience has a defined beginning and end, and a job description with desired qualifications.
- There are clearly defined learning objectives/goals related to the professional goals of the student’s academic coursework.
- There is supervision by a professional with expertise and educational and/or professional background in the field of the experience.
- There is routine feedback by the experienced supervisor.
- There are resources, equipment, and facilities provided by the host employer that support learning objectives/goals.
**Handshake
Before you start to create your employer page in Handshake, please know that FAU has certain requirements that employers must meet for their Handshake account to be approved. These requirements were put into place for the protection of our students during the recruitment process.

- Employers must be able to provide a complete physical business address. Employers are not permitted to provide residential addresses (home-based offices), P.O. Boxes, or Storage Unit locations.
- Employers must provide a phone number.
- Employers must provide a business email address with a domain name matching the employer website. Email domains such as gmail, yahoo, etc. require a business card to be sent to recruit@fau.edu to verify that the email address is used for the business.
- Employers must have an ACTIVE registration with their state’s Division of Corporation.
- Third-Party Employers must sign our Third-Party Agreement before their Handshake account will be approved.
